About Us
Jack and Jackie Simonini, a husband and wife early oak specialist partnership, have specialised in early English oak and country furniture for over 20 years. Originally from the Lake District they have moved Period Oak Antiques to Petworth UK to sell antique furniture.

Period Oak of Petworth UK - has six large showrooms of antique oak furniture. There is a warm and welcoming atmosphere, redolent of beeswax and the deep glow of polished oak amongst the early oak antiques, where visitors can enjoy the collection of superb furniture and decorative items, dating from the 16th and 17th century. The stock is sourced from all over the United Kingdom and includes oak refectory tables , dressers, coffers, dated furniture, antique chest of drawers, early carvings and metalware. It is an impressive reflection of their passion for early oak and country furniture and their constant search for the rare and the unusual oak furniture.

They are members of BADA, LAPADA and The Petworth Art and Antiques Dealers Association, which represents the vast majority of the 38 antique shops in Petworth, which was voted Antiques Town of the Year in 2004.

USEFUL TIPS :
- When purchasing a piece of antique country furniture, firstly you should fall in love with the piece and it should fulfil your requirements. Secondly you should look for originality because the more original the piece is, the more valuable it will remain.
- Good original patina, whether dark or light in colour, a true patina from centuries of polishing cannot be faked. Beware of pieces that are over polished, to high gloss, as some restorers tend to over polish a piece and therefore it devaluates the piece and hides restorations. Knocks and scratches are all part of its history and only enhance a piece.
- Thirdly and most importantly enjoy hunting!
